The .ferrari Dot
Brand
Ferrari
is part of the Fiat S.p.A. automotive group which includes other major
brands such as Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Maserati. It is building a strategic
alliance with Chrysler Group in which it has a majority stake. Fiat
is integrating with Chrysler with the aim of becoming a major international
automaker.

The global
focus and reach of the group presents opportunities to leverage the
potential of its proposed new brand TLDs such as .ferrari. The goal
is to create a connected digital brand experience for all stakeholders
while building the companies' reputation and service.
One of
the user experience goals is to: "Unify the full breadth of products
and services offered by Fiat S.p.A. under one brand umbrella..."

The Group's
objective is to write the new chapters of the story upon which it
has just embarked through leveraging synergies to reduce costs, sharing
know-how, expanding the global product offering and improving market
penetration worldwide.

The .ferrari
extension will provide new opportunities to deliver marketing and advertising.
There will also be great opportunities for innovative marketing campaigns
to meet the demands of the market.
The TLD
will be able to innovate, improve general business operations and streamline
user navigation to online product and service information.
The closed
nature of the TLD will facilitate secure communication and interaction
with stakeholders while protecting customer privacy and confidential
info. This will help to "increase customer confidence and trust
in conducting business online".
It will
also improve business operations and satisfy future client expectations.
Service content will be more personalized. Service delivery will be
improved.

As technology
advances, so too do client expectations of companies online. They
expect that companies will utilize the latest and greatest technology
and online practices to improve the user experience, protect their
information and deliver quality service.

The .ferrari
extension will be launched with a broad communications campaign. Goals
will include informing the market about a commitment to security &
privacy, details about ownership and aims, and details about expected
benefits. "Fiat S.p.A. believes outreach and communication will
be critical to building trust and confidence in the legitimacy of the
TLD."

Fiat
S.p.A. anticipates incorporating messaging regarding .ferrari as part
of appropriate company and product communication campaigns that will
likely involve all communication channels, including but not limited
to, TV, radio, mobile, print, social media, direct mail, online advertising
and marketing...

Various
online crimes, cybersquatting, phishing, identity theft and other scams
have proliferated on the internet.
The ferrari
TLD will help to foster trust and confidence in online interaction with
partners and customers. It will reduce the likelihood of visitors being
"misled, believing and/or acting on erroneous, information about
Fiat S.p.A., its business partners and/or its products and services
presented online..."

The proposed
.ferrari gTLD will enable customers and other business partners and
Internet users to distinguish on the face of the domain name alone
whether the site is an authorized company site because the gTLD will
be a restricted, exclusively-controlled online environment...

Geographic
Dot Brands
Ferrari
will protect those country and territory names with geographic significance
from registration within .ferrari domain names, as per the requirements
in Specification 5 of the New TLD Agreement. The company will seek agreement
from relevant governments for release and permission to use those names.
"Registry operator will work with respective GAC representatives
of the countrys relevant Ministry of Department to obtain their
release of the names..."
Then, the
company would be able to use domain names such as Italy.ferrari. There
is no obvious reason why the Italian government for example would object
to this.
